COMET CENTER (K1)
The CEST Competence Center for Surface Technology GmbH (CEST) is the coordinator of one of currently 20 COMET Centers (K1).
This program is handled by Österreichische ForschungsförderungsgmbH (FFG).
COMET is the red-white-red flagship program of business and science for the promotion of cutting-edge research. It promotes the establishment of competence centers for excellent technologies – the COMET centers.

For implementing COMET, there are roughly three program lines:
- COMET-Centers
like us, CEST (K1), conduct research at a high international level and provide new research impulses. The aim is to develop and focus competencies through excellent cooperative research with a medium and long-term perspective. - COMET-Projects
contribute to the initiation of new product, process and service innovations. They give new consortia and topics access to the COMET program. - COMET-Modules
are characterized by particularly high-risk research that goes well beyond the current state of the art. The aim of the COMET module program line is to establish future-oriented research topics and develop new areas of strength in order to prepare Austria as a research location for future challenges.
