Setup of a Low energy Ion scattering (LEIS) spectroscopy system

Setup of a Low energy Ion scattering (LEIS) spectroscopy system:

LEIS is an advanced analytic technique to investigate the surface of materials. A LEIS system will be set up at CEST Wiener Neustadt. With this device many of the contemporary questions in material science, chemistry and catalysis can be tackled. Especially in for sustainable technologies such as electrocatalysis or hydrogen storage, unique scientific problems can be probed with this technique. Also, for material science and especially semiconductor technology, the LEIS offers special opportunities, as it allows a highly precise quantification of the outmost atomic layer in those materials. This project can be realized due to financial support of the European Union (EFRE – see www.efre.gv.at for more information).
